The IR thermography inspection on electrical systems,

allow the detection and evaluation of excessive or unbalanced loads,

poor connections, oxidation and other faults invisible to the naked eye.

 

The thermography technique grants corrective and predictive maintenance

through the remote identification and measurement

of the heat produced by the electric system’s components.

 

The thermographic analysis is a non-conctact and non-destructive inspection technique, UNI EN 9712 (473).

It is carried out on the electrical system while it is full-load operating without interrupting the current supply.

All the measurements are performed by a secure distance

which ensure to avoid the threat of electrical work under voltage.

The operators are certified RINA II° level UNI EN ISO 9712

Infrared thermographic check of the electrical systems allows the client to negotiate a reduction in the fire insurance premium. Furthermore, regarding the company own prevention and maintenance annual program, checking the electrical systems with IR allows the client to keep under control:

·       the materials’ deterioration

·       the danger of surges that can cause fire risk

·       the tightening and oxidation of the power contacts with consequent risk of dangerous overheating and plant’s operating faults;

·       the risk of production’s shutdowns, plant stoppage and electric black out;

·       the predictive maintenance of the equipements and installations

 

 

 

The check operations

 

- Visual inspection of the electrical system.

- Instrumental measurement of temperature by infrared radiation on transformers, power terminal blocks, electrical switchboards, circuit breakers and switches, critical equipment

- Measures with amperometric clamp, electrical phases analyzer and other instruments

- Acquisition of visible and infrared images of the points where anomaly heating and/or temperature changing are detected

- The instrumental tests are carried out on plants under electrical voltage in normal operating conditions, therefore they do not require the interruption of electrical supply

- Report’s draft

- The customer should provide the assistance of a qualified electrician during the check activities

Conclusions: except for the above statements, there are no significant thermal anomalies on the electrical plant

 

Monitoring
